In 1996 a few non-resident Indians (NRI’s) became the change agents to translate the dream of giving back to the country of their birth…. This group founded IRDF to be the effective way to channel resources and funds towards sustainable rural development in India.
Why is IRDF needed ? {PAGE TOP} IRDF fills the need for a fund with a long-term commitment to provide financial, technological and managerial resources to the people of rural India, and to help them realize their full potential. It also hopes to serve as an umbrella organization coordinating the efforts of the myriad groups in the US serving rural India.
How are funds raised? {PAGE TOP} IRDF has begun to receive donations from organizations, corporations and individuals in the United States interested in helping rural India. IRDF has organized many fundraising events. If you are interested in participating, drop us an email.
What are some of the current projects of IRDF? {PAGE TOP} Projects in rural India are executed in coordination with established non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that the foundation is partnered with like Rural Development Foundation (RDF) in Telangana.
Are contributions in US tax deductible? {PAGE TOP} IRDF is a tax-exempt organization under the U.S. Internal Revenue Services (IRS) code, Section 501 (c) (3). Tax Id: 94-3274500. It is organized under the "Public Benefit Corporation Law" for public and charitable purposes. And therefore, all contributions to IRDF are tax deductible.
